[R3] Tenable Appliance 4.3.1 Fixes One Vulnerability

Synopsis

Tenable Appliance has been found to contain a vulnerability in the web interface. With a crafted request using a traversal sequence, an authenticated attacker can abuse a resource to enumerate or delete arbitrary files on the underlying operating system.

Please note that Tenable strongly recommends that the Tenable Appliance be installed on a subnet that is not Internet addressable.

Solution

Tenable has released version 4.3.1 of the Appliance that resolves this issue. Users are strongly encouraged to update.

Note: Tenable Appliance 4.2.0, released on June 30, 2016, fixed a remote DoS condition in the integrated lighttpd server (no CVE).
