Tenable Network Security Delivers New Threat Hunting Solution to Help Customers Proactively Identify and Address Compromises Before a Breach

February 29, 2016 · Columbia, MD

Tenable arms customers with new solution to hunt for indicators of compromise and visualize threats, trends and security anomalies before they become breaches

Tenable Network Security, Inc., a global leader transforming security technology for the business needs of tomorrow, today announced the release of a new Threat Hunting solution at RSA Conference 2016 to help customers proactively identify threats and resolve compromises before they become breaches.

“For years, we’ve practiced Defense in Depth, but in today’s increasingly connected world, a multilayered approach is no longer sufficient to keep our networks safe,” said Ron Gula, CEO, Tenable Network Security. “It’s time we change our strategies in combating the adversary. This is Tenable’s focus. We are helping organizations transform their security programs with proactive threat hunting that lets CISOs answer and act on a simple, yet important question — have I been breached?”

The average enterprise deploys dozens of security tools across their networks, creating the illusion of complete security coverage but actually leaving gaps and blind spots that lead to data breaches. Even with skilled security staff in place, they may not have the resources to quickly determine whether they are compromised. With a broad spectrum of coverage and integration support, including active scanning, intelligent connectors, agent-based scanning, continuous listening, and host activity data, Tenable’s new Threat Hunting solution provides the real-time visibility and critical context CISOs and security teams need to actively hunt and eliminate threats.

“We’ve traditionally relied on siloed point products in security, resulting in a highly fragmented and limited view of enterprise risks and threats,” said Adrian Sanabria, Senior Security Analyst, 451 Research. “We’ve been predicting that the future of threat detection and incident response will belong to companies focused on a technology and asset-agnostic approach to situational awareness across the entire enterprise. We’re excited to see vendors like Tenable making significant strides toward that goal – a single vantage point from which we can observe attackers probe, pivot and plot.”

The new Threat Hunting solution draws on unique sensors in Tenable’s award-winning SecurityCenter Continuous View™ (SecurityCenter CV™) to create a baseline of normal activity. Built-in anomaly detection enables customers to identify and measure divergence from normal activity patterns, identify suspicious chained events, and uncover complex threats on the network in real time. Robust reporting features and actionable dashboards give organizations the tools they need to stay one step ahead of attackers.
